Navratri

About Navratri Festival

Navratri is a vibrant and culturally significant Hindu festival that spans nine nights and is celebrated with great enthusiasm and devotion. The word "Navratri" is derived from two Sanskrit words: "Nav" meaning nine and "Ratri" meaning night. This festival is observed twice a year - once in the spring (Chaitra Navratri) and once in the autumn (Sharad Navratri), corresponding to the two major seasons of change in India.

The festival primarily honors the divine feminine energy, open represented by the goddess Durga or Shakti. Each night of Navratri is dedicated to a different form of the goddess, and her various manifestations are worshipped over the nine days. The festival culminates on the tenth day, known as Vijayadashami or Dussehra, when the victory of good over evil is celebrated with the symbolic victory of Lord Rama over the demon king Ravana.
